The importance of solar energy

news 16 September 2024

September 16th is the international day for the preservation of the ozone layer.

Raising awareness to reduce global warming is the objective of this date, which marks the signing of the Montreal Protocol in 1987.

According to the Portuguese Environment Agency, “This international treaty prohibits the production and use of substances that deplete the ozone layer, allowing its progressive recovery, (…), also safeguarding the protection of ecosystems and slowing down climate change, since many of the substances that deplete the ozone layer are also gases that cause climate warming. […] it is essential to create more sustainable and energy-efficient solutions.”*

At FN hotelaria we are committed to offering our customers more environmentally friendly and energy efficient solutions that allow for considerable savings.

But it is also part of our role to implement more sustainable practices in our activity, whether through the correct disposal of waste, the use of products and materials in accordance with current environmental regulations, the introduction of electric vehicles into the company's fleet (about 10 units for now) or the production of electrical energy through sustainable sources.

It is in this context that we are equipping FN hotelaria’s headquarters building with a significant set of photovoltaic panels, which will allow us to benefit from this renewable energy, while also allowing considerable savings.

These are concerns that have always been part of the brand's values and culture and that we try to increasingly incorporate into our practices, as part of the environmental responsibility of a company that is also a supplier and installer of these solutions.
