Caju opened in December 2019, in the heart of the Madeiran capital. It is a boutique hotel with 24 rooms. Classified with 4 stars, it has a suite, gym, lounge, bar and restaurant. It belongs to the Divine Hotels Collection, as does its “older brother”, The Vine Hotel.
Focused on the leisure and business segments, it takes advantage of its privileged location in Funchal city and its architectural and cultural heritage. Caju hotel is the result of the rehabilitation of a centenary building that has already served several purposes: housing building, factory and commercial establishment - an old grocery store from which the hotel inherited its name.
The decoration created by Madeiran designer Nini Andrade Silva favors a minimalist and elegant industrial style that honors the building's cultural heritage and an environment that connects the past to the present. The restoration of the building had the utmost respect for the original design, having kept many decorative elements such as the iron balconies and structural elements such as the stone walls.
The hotel's restaurant is called Prima Caju. Offering "tasty and healthy kitchen", it seeks to provide flavor and well-being, in an informal and familiar environment. This familiarity is at the origin of the name of the restaurant created by three Madeiran ‘primas’ (Portuguese word for ‘cousins’) who appreciate healthy food and who wanted to make available to the public a different gastronomic offer: tasty recipes based on organic products, seasonal products, natural and nutritious food, but above all healthy food. In this restaurant, “health and taste are close cousins”.
FN hotelaria was the company responsible for the project, supply and installation of equipment for kitchen, show kitchen, pantry, bar and storage area, as well as for the execution of the mechanichal installations of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and hot water production.
