FN hotelaria’s culinary competition had its first edition in 2012 and soon proved a great success.
In 2014, the contest turned into a tv show. Broadcasted by RTP Madeira (our local tv channel) from July to August, the competition kept its original identity: the eliminatory rounds were disputed by two-element teams, which members were not professional cooks, and who presented to the jury their culinary creations. A four-day traineeship in the Hotel Restaurant Mühle in Germany was the big prize.
Although it is a competition for non-professionals, all the teams revealed a high level of culinary knowledge, which made the decisions of the jury harder and raised the requirements to an almost professional level and gave a special glow to the contest.
In order to promote Madeira’s gastronomy, this competition privileges the use of local products.
